Lovely Leggings... Love Your Legs This Fall

Get the look (and get looks!) this Fall with these legging choices.  By now you've seen plenty of leggings on the shelves... from the 3/4 to the lacey trim... but what is your style?  If you haven't found it already, I'm happy to be of assistance!  Here goes my first fashion advice post. :) I've selected some of my favorite styles - whether for warmth, or riding on the wild side, these tight-fits are sure way to win that coveted certain "jen ne sais pas"!

So far, the season's offerings seem rather chromatic (a lot of black!) and the best styles move away from bright colors, moving the focus to creative patterns & textures. Which style are you?

Museum Day 2009 & National Public Lands Day

Today, 9/26/09, you can enjoy some free fun at some of our nation's finest pleasures... museums and parks!  Celebrate some of the finer things in life with your loved ones by getting away, out of the city, and out into the open.  (Talk about some good clean fun - ditch the highway and go breathe some fresh air!)  Here are the links to the hook-ups:

Jumble Bugs: Johnny the Punk

Check out my friend Emily's website featuring her buggy creations - Jumble Bugs TM! She's seriously a creative genius... she can whip up a hand-stitched piece of art in no time, and is always thinking up something new.  She has dozens of Bugs available, featuring the likes of Leilani the Hula Girl (below).  Be sure to snatch up one of I've even had the opportunity to see some not yet on the website. :)

These felt friends are perfect for a gift for a friend or child.  They each come with some nice facts about their personality, etc.  Heck, I hear they're even going to be on set of a Ben Stiller movie.  Hmmm... maybe Little Fockers (2010)?

What I bought today... Creative Recreation

I've seen the brand Creative Recreation before, but I guess I never cared enough to check out their offerings... seeing as shoes seem to start around $100, I'm not surprised.  Today I was able to take advantage of a 70% off coupon (DAILYCANDY) - yes, you read that right. Now, I've seen some people make fun of these shoes and call them names (mostly clown shoes), but I think if you've got any hint of a fashion gene, you'll appreciate the colorful creations of CR. (I must admit I really like their logo too!)

They have several lines of shoes, wherein I think I selected of the weirdest or most unique. :) I chose one of the GALOW HI styles, they're basically like "high tops". Now, I think these may seem to fit more of the hiphop-urban crowd... and I'm happy to join. I'm a wannabe gangsta. Without further ado... the Women's GALOW HI in blue/white/peacock!

Retail $110... total with shipping & CA tax, $35. :)

What do you think of these? Good for winter? Perfect for "skinny jeans"?  Follow their blog at http://thecrjournal.com.

Definition of 'recessionista'

Do you know what ' recessionista' means? According to Urban Dictionary, here's their March 25, 2009 Word-of-the-Day-winning definition:

"A person who is able to stick to a tight budget while still managing to dress stylishly.
She's superstylish, always able to buy a round of drinks and still seems to be wearing a new outfit every time you see her."

Example: She's a recessionista, that New York marvel who's a magnet for a good deal. And in this economy, she's got a lot to teach us.
